Adhering a Gum Lip Cap

Hey guys, and gals if there is any, I have to attach a gum lip cap to a red brick chimney, but I don’t want to go near it with a drill lol, it’s getting brittle.
Would something like Loctite PL 500 work ya think? Or something else?

I’ve seen some chimneys that uncured EPDM was used for the counterflashing, it seemed to hold up for the life of the roof.

If you try to glue a metal counterflashing to a deteriorating chimney it will just fall off when then brick spalls.

Unfortunately this chimney is not smooth, but it’s not the most uneven I’ve seen either. I’ll grab a piece of EPDM and see how it sits on it.
Thanks Axiom

Maybe it is time to sell a rebuild of the chimney? I’ve also seen MFM Peel & Seal used to flash a chimney.
