I would think ice & water shield on the whole roof would create a condensation problem.
I would think inadequate attic ventilation
would cause a condensation problem. A dry, properly vented attic should stay that way. As far as the cedar breather, it will deftinitely extend the life of the cedar shingles, as would lath strips/ spacers.
When applying shakes over solid decking you need cedar breather.
Ice & water shield over the entire deck is fine if you have good ventilation.
We use Cedar Breather all the time. A lot of jobs are full I&W now a days.
Definately cedar breather.
And ice and water the whole deck.
Sometimes, I will also build another roof over the roof I just put on.
4/12 is a little low for cedar in my area.
Thanks for the advice
First big skake job in couple of years was not all that aware of product. Good to hear from the experts on this board. 4/12 pitch is not all that great but customer would not take no for answer
Once a roofer always a roofer
