A lot of “roofers” can’t put on a shingle according to specs, much less install flat roofing that is less forgiving when it comes to errors. I repair way too many flats done by We Do It All roofers. I also do small flats for roofers that acknowledge the fact that they’ll screw it up…
I will explain one more time slowly for you. We do 60 mil mechanically fastened PVC on all low slope areas associated with our comp/metal/tile reroofs and we average around 80-100 reroofs per year to go with about the same amount of new construction. Every time you get caught defending a roofer doing crappy work you attack the one who points it out with made up stuff to divert the attention from your lack of knowledge regarding basic roofing details. Our trainees know how to run step shingles properly after 2 months and you still don’t? On another note, you talk about feelings a lot for a roofer and it’s kind of cringey.
Pvc Sucks on roof-replacements.
Its horrible in my opinion.
No One does it around here.
And i live in the largest roofing market in the united states.
PVC is For new construction and commercial.
pvc is inferior on residential because it is not durable against yard debris
Any yard debris that hits it, can puncture it
And then the leak doesnt stay isolated to that spot.
The leak spreads all under that roof
System.
It can turn the entire roof under it into a swimming pool of rotten wood.
Any trees close to the house are a major threat to it.
People like trees to shade their home around here.
And educating homeowners about the damage that these trees do, is a every day battle.
A good torch-down modified is awesome against falling yard debris and falling bullets also.
Roof lover,
I know this thread has run it’s course but I just need to address one more thing.
I purposely avoid running my competitors down until I feel that what they are doing is bad for the industry and casting a shadow on all of us who care about doing good work and protecting the consumer. I firmly believe that you are a contractor that cares and does good work in your area. However, I also think you are too quick to defend shitty roofers and maybe you care more about your customers, at the same time neglecting the ones you aren’t working for. I never run another roofer down until I feel they are cheating a customer with shoddy work. That could have been an 80 year old widow having to unknowingly accept that grotesque flashing work. Doesn’t that matter to you?
Looks like the contractor needs to buy a saw and quit using a beaver to cut stuff
You should contact your contractor immediately and tell him that you want to get it fixed. If he refuses to do it, then you can sue him. It is the contractor’s responsibility to make sure that his work was done properly. You can get it fixed by yourself, but you will have to split the cost with the contractor.
