I am going to replace a 60-year old tin roof with a PVC membrane. The roof is over 8-9 inch high joists with fiberglass insulation between the joists. Over the years, there have been 3-4 leaks. Does this mean the insulation has mold or is otherwise no longer effective?
If the insulation is not good, I would have to tear off the old deck (probably slats or tongue and groov slats) and replace it with 3/4 inch plywood as well as the fiberglass. I have a quote for all this work of $2,100, (roof is 31 x 12 feet). I do not want to spend it if it is not necessary. This is in addition to about $5,000 for the membrane and 1-inch polyiso board insulation on top of the roof.
hey it seems like you need some profession care for it an i suggest you must go for it. although DIY can save you lots of money but it can also cause you mess which can take lots of euros to redo. take consultation of 2 or 3 contractors and then decide the right one for you. take decision wisely.
