I know many love them. I would, but they only last 2-6 years around here. This one is 4 years old.

What do you figure? Animals chewing through them? Sell them copper sleeves.
It’s squirrels Bob. Pix 3 and 4 clearly show the tooth marks. Squirrels seem to love them more than nuts for some reason. I either sell Plastic tower, or all copper collars.
It is definitely squirrels. We run into this all the time here in KS. They seem to think its a delicacy!! I have actually seen them gnawing away at one and the other reply is right the teeth makes show clearly in a couple of the pics. You can treat them with a squirrel repellant or paint them but copper is an easier fix.
Ya, I see the same claw marks & teeth marks on lead chimney flashings up here in New England too.

Squirrels chew them like candy here. I’ve been called for a pipe leak and there wasn’t much more than the flange still there.
I just offer the client a choice of options and go from there.
I’ve only used them lead ones in Fla. I’ve never seen them up north here.
