Just trying to get a feel for who is paying what for materials now.

There has been many increases over the summer, and even another at the end of the month.

That being said, what are you paying for

#15 or #30 felt (standard)-- Here in Ohio its up to 20.00 per roll

Shinglemate/Roofers Select–Here its up to $44 per roll

Weatherwatch ice/water --here it is now %66

This has got to end. Do you guys think the price increases will slow down soon? Ive been ordering accs. by the pallat to try and save. I dont think Im saving a whole lot right now. But in the long run, I think Its worth the hassle. Anyone else do this?

I am in P.A., and the level 8 pricing is skid prices without the skid… I was going to buy skids from 1st supplier, but they raised prices, and never told me about the empending doom. My new supplier gave me skid pricing without buying skids…lower than old prices before increases…It is gouging at its finest!

mr roofer i havent even bid on anything but labor since december. it has gotten so bad in michigan i decided to just sub and save the gas money at this time. it makes sense for me to spend my time on the roof and not in my truck. i give my leads to a friend and if he gets the job i sub it from him. he emails me pictures and i quote it by the square. my price list is pretty straight forward. i am just trying to adapt to the current situation. ill start bidding again when it gets better. until then i am just going to stick to the state and city funded work. it doesnt pay all that great but there is plenty of it since alot of homeowners in michigan have just lost their jobs. i hear of some of the smaller companies bidding so low you would think they stole the materials.

sorry for my response. good luck with things in Michigan. im in Florida, its bad, but not that bad. we go on about 10-12 replacement leads a day.

i wasted allot of money to get to this point and i am definitely working allot harder for my money this way. i just hate negotiating when i cant put my best roof on for the price that would get the job. people say sell yourself not the shingles. i went from 80% sold to about 15-20%. a good referral from a previous customer or someone walking up on my job is my only real chance right now. plus subbing doesn’t leave you the time to really bend over backwards to get the job. i catch myself saying “You can find someone cheaper a little too soon”. Especially when its hot and im tired. i need to work on that.

JMan,

Which supplier do you work for?

I am trying to think of who carries that IKO besides Menards and a place in Crystal Lake.

I am not interested in switching to IKO, by the way. I already have my next 8 material orders sent in using other brands.
