If the top layer tabs of a laminate shingle have been blown of by wind does that affect the service life of the shingle? Wind rating? Is that covered by insurance?
Yes the roof is compromised.

Yes, unknown and should be. Depends on your insurance. Depends how many tabs. Depends on the age and how brittle the existing roof is. Find an insurance savvy contractor to work with.

I do work for a contractor. I was curious about your opinions. An adjuster thinks the damage is “cosmetic”. I referenced Haag engineerings definition of wind damage in my last email to them. Have not heard back yet. 99 out of 100 insurance adjusters would have probably written up the roof. 17 years old. 35sqs. 30+ tabs missing or creased.
